Den gamla föreställningen att äkta blues bara kan spelas av svarta musiker från de amerikanska sydstaterna finns väl inte längre. Många vita band från olika håll och kanter på jordklotet kan konsten att låta trovärdiga i sina egentillverkade bluestolvor. Även i Sverige finns det musiker som kan förmedla de känslor som ger bluesen dess särprägel.
Gitarristen Pelle Lindberg spelade i många år med Bloosblasters (som även har använt beteckningen Bluesblasters), som har byggt upp en stor och bred repertoar med låtar på svenska. Eller rättare sagt på rejäl skånska. För upplänningar kan det nog vara lite svårt ibland att förstå vad låtarna handlar om.
Och att samarbeta med t ex amerikanska bluesartister blir naturligtvis inte så lätt när man sjunger på ett annat språk än engelska. Om detta var skälet till att Pelle Lindberg hoppade av från Bloosblasters, det vet jag inte. Men man kan ju alltid gissa.
Han bildade i alla fall ett nytt band, där sångaren Simon Mårtensson har den rätta känslan och nerven både när han sjunger och trakterar orgeln. Stefan Rosqvist på gitarr, Alfred Andersson på bas och Walle Wahlgren på trummor kompletterar bandet, där flera av medlemmarna dessutom skriver låtarna.
Nya plattan visar att bandet står sig gott i den internationella bluesvärlden. Det svänger grymt, bandet har en rejäl tyngd i sitt agerande och Lindberg själv är en sann begåvning både som låtskrivare och gitarrist.
Leave This Town omfattar åtta bluesiga nummer som gör att man ser fram emot att få spana in bandet live snarast möjligt.

Tyrolen Bluesfest!

We had a great time last night @ Tyrolen. It was our first gig with our own material and the crowd gave us superlove, so thank you sooooo much everybody!!!!

First "Leave this town" review and more upcoming shows!

The band had a great weekend at The Dusty Road Bluesfestival. Wanna thank everybody who showed up and all the wonderful people who put together this fantastic festival. The show at Tyrolen(tyrolen.se) 19 june is coming up and PLB will bring you a full hour of original songs and heavy blues on the main stage at 08.00 p.m. PLB has been booked to play in Lysekil at Bluesföreningen Ernst the 20 november. The new album will soon be up on spotify, i-tunes and amazon etc. so keep a lookout for that one.

Helsingborgsbaserade bluesmannen Pelle Lindberg har genom åren figurerat i ett otal olika konstellationer, och spelat med ett stort antal erkända namn inom genren, men det känns som om det är först nu som han verkligen hittat hem. Tillsammans med sina begåvade instrumentalister, inte minst nya sångarfyndet Simon Mårtensson som även visar sig vara en driven organist, har han här skapat ett album som verkligen lever, leker och andas blues. Det är inga stora gester och ofta ganska enkelt arrangerat, men det gör i sin tur att de starka melodierna tillåts stå i centrum. Personligen är jag särskilt svag för bluegrassinfluenserna i trallvänliga stämningshöjaren Leave this town, men här finns även en hel del att hämta för den som föredrar det mer klassiska bluessoundet. Äntligen en svensk bluesplatta värd namnet!

Pelle Lindberg Band studio diary!

Long time no see blueslovers! The band has been getting a lot of stuff done. We just finished our first recording with exclusively original tunes and it was the first time recording with Simon as well. We got eight tunes on tape and we will start mixing tomorrow, exciting! Simon adds a lot to the band with his multi-instrumental skills and soulfull voice. We've made a small studio diary with some odds and ends from the recording process, ENJOY!!!









The band has got a couple of shows booked for the summer at the following venues:

Lanskrona karnevalen - Landskrona 16/7
Malmö festivalen - Malmö 23/8

Songs keep comin in!

Here's a tune written by yours truly called Ain't knocking. I really like the way Simon interpreted the melody and the way Walle lays down the beat gives the song a death row vibe, but in a good way.



The band will do some pre-production next week, looking forward to that. Will bring you some new pics soon to show you the progress of building the studio where Pelle Lindberg Band will record new material this spring.

Countryvibes and nails!

Here's another video for you with Leave this town written by Pelle Lindberg. I feel some nice countryvibes on this one and I really like the turnaround, points to Pelle for that one.



Meanwhile me, Jokke and Walle are making progress in the buildingdepartment. We're moving forward and looking like a couple of honest workers indeed.

Recording to take place in April!

The recording of the brand new EP with Pelle Lindberg Band is going to take place in Helsingborg during 9-11 of april. Joakim Pettersson, talented guitarplayer and sound engineer will take us into the studio that me, Walle and Jokke currently are building. Exciting and interesting indeed! A lot of tunes!

Pelle Lindberg Band are indeed productive at the moment. Eight tunes have been written and pulled out of the archives. It´s really a fresh mix of tunes with a lot of different influences and grooves. Last night we did some pre-production for the upcoming EP and here are some pictures of the work that took place in Stefans garage.

Next week we´ll have the first rehearsal with Simon, looking forward to that. Will bring you some pics and vidoes for sure.

Progress!

Pelle Lindberg Band are writing and rehearsing new material and have made great progress the last couple of weeks. I´ve contributed with a couple of tunes and Pelle has been digging in his blues-archive and come up with some great tunes of his own. I know that Simon got something down his sleeve as well.

The songs present a wide range of influences and character from the songwriters and the musicians performing it. Blues is a genre that really can take you from a to z and that´s what I feel we are doing.
